I’m writing to tell you about a project that we, at the British Eventing Charitable Foundation are running for young people. It’s a project called ‘Jump Forward’ which is funded by a Big Lottery Awards for All grant and aims to encourage more young people into volunteering. It’s a great opportunity for young people aged 16-21 to get free expert advice and guidance on not only the benefits of volunteering, but also career advice, education options and what’s important when setting up a small business or as a self-employed person.

The project is free and takes place during the summer holidays. It’s three (non-consecutive) days long, two days covering volunteer roles and career choices in an interactive and interesting classroom environment, and another day taking place at an British Eventing event, where the group can meet and talk to some of the volunteers and officials on the ground, and even have a go at some of the roles on the day. It’s a great way for young people to feel part of something big – and get active in the process. Lunch is provided for free each day and those who attend all three days will be rewarded at a free special lunch and awards ceremony at Blair Castle International Horse Trials in August.

I’d be really grateful if you could please circulate this information with the below links to anyone – young people, parents and colleagues - who you feel would like to find out more and book onto the three day programme. It would also be great if you are able to advertise this on your event/club facebook pages.

Kirriemuir Horse Trials 2nd July/Auchleshie Farm 11th/25th July

Dalkeith Park Horse Trials 12th Aug/Oatridge College 31st July/7th Aug

Please feel free to contact me should you like anymore information.

Thank you for your help with this.

PDRC training

By Helen MacNeil on 22nd May

Nice to see a lot of folks really enjoying their dressage test training last weekend with Liz Love and everyone who participated is already looking forward to her next clinic in June.

The next training on our calendar is an Event Training Clinic with David Gatherer. However, his May clinic is full but David will also be returning in June

If there is anything specific training wise that you would like PDRC to run, please contact any committee member or message us via our facebook page to make suggestions.
