Oxford Students For Animals is a newly-formed group committed to promoting a non-speciesist approach to the interests and needs of non-human animals, as well as advocating vegetarianism and veganism within the University of Oxford.
The group has a dual focus:
Firstly, we aim to provide a welcoming and exciting community for vegetarians, vegans, animal advocates and likeminded people; anyone is welcome to attend our events and get involved in any way they like. Whether you are already a committed campaigner, want to get more informed and involved in the issues or even just want to make new friends, please do get involved!
Secondly, we aim to campaign for issues that we see as important. We will be campaigning chiefly for change within the University of Oxford itself; our first two campaigns are: 1) “Clean Up Cruelty”, to stop using products tested on animals within the university, and 2) “Less Meat, More Veg”, to reduce the meat consumption of the oxford colleges and make their catering arrangements more suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
We will also be creating information sheets and pamphlets to encourage interest in the issues that are so often neglected by human beings (and Oxford University in particular) and to keep them firmly rooted in the political and ethical agenda.
Whatever your experience of this sort of group, you are welcome to attend our meetings and get involved in any way you can.
