Commemoration of first parkash of SGGS in 1604 with changing of Nishan Sahib

This event is in the past.

The Nishan Sahib has also recently been moved so it was considered auspicious to commemorate this day with the washing and changing of the Nishan Sahib. The changing of the Nishan Sahib will be carried out at 10am.

All the sadh sangat ji are requested to attend and participate in the washing and changing of the Nishan Sahib. 

The regular Sunday programme of Sukhmani path, Kirtan and Guru ka langar will run as normal from 11.00am to 2.00pm.

This Sunday, 1 st Sept, we will be commemorating the first prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

The task of compiling the Sri Guru Granth Sahib as started by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji (the 5th Guru) in 1509. This work was completed in 1604 and the SGGS was installed in the Sri Harminder Sahib. On 1st September 1604 Baba Budha Ji was appointed the first granthi and carried out the first prakash. The first hukamnama that appeared was :

santa ke karaji api khaloia hari kammu karavani aia rama
dharati suhavi talu suhava vichi amritu jalu chhaia rama
amritu jalu chhaia purana saju karaia sagala manoratha pure
jai jai karu bhaia jaga antari lathe sagala visure
purana purakha achuta abinasi jasu veda purani gaia
apana biradu rakhia paramesari nanka namu dhiaia. 1.
