Bhangra is a cultural dance whose essence runs in the veins of all Punjabis across the world. It was traditionally practiced by the farmers of Punjab (North West India) in the eleventh century to celebrate the coming of the harvest season.
In Oxford, our society caters for all those avid Bhangra fans out there as well as others in a number of way. Bhangra Nights, the Bhangra Showdown, and the BhangraSoc Ball (to feature in 2013 for the very first time) are just some examples.
Oxford will be rocked by the strong beats of the dhol, the light stringing of the tumbi and the heavy two-steps of the jhumar!
