Message from Northern Star Alumni President

E-mail sent by Maria Krull, Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 @ 3:50pm

Dear Northern Star Alumni,

We are approaching the end of 2018, and you likely are thinking of making end-of-the-year donations. Please remember the Northern Star. The newspaper is continuing its mission despite the difficulties confronting the entire industry.

The students are hoping to buy new photo and video equipment to enhance the newspaper's digital presence.

To insure the Star receives your full donation, please make your check payable to NIU Foundation and write "Northern Star" in the memo field. Mail your check to: Northern Star, CLB 130 - NIU Campus, DeKalb, IL 60115. Your donation is tax deductible.

On behalf of the Northern Star Alumni Board, I'd like to thank you for your support of the organization we hold dear.

Have a happy and joyful holiday season!

Greg Clemens, 2003 Northern Star Alumni President

Jerry Thompson

E-mail sent by Maria Krull, Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 @ 11:43am

Dear Alumni,

It is with much sadness I have to report to you Jerry Thompson died peacefully this morning. Mrs. Thompson said - according to Jerry's wishes - there will not be a funeral, nor an obituary.

He was a larger than life person and impacted so many; perhaps in the near future we can find an appropriate way to celebrate his life.
