2 Day Trip to the Peak District

Saturday, 15th March 2014 at TBD

Location: Matlock, Derbyshire

This event is in the past.

Up Friday night and back Sunday night to get two good long days of cycling in around Matlock and the peaks. Mike has extremely kindly offered the use of his holiday let in Matlock which can sleep 9 without sharing the 3 double beds (but share by all means!), with further space to put blow-ups if demand exists.

Two vans and a car are available for transport.
Further details added closer to the time.

Please RSVP to get an idea of numbers.

Sadly I'm going to have to pass now also. Combination of having coming down with a bug last weekend (hence empty tanks last Sunday) and still suffering from whiplash after being hit by a driver a couple of weeks ago.

David, my bike may fit you, although a bit less than perfectly and you're welcome to borrow it. Email me if you're interested.

Anyone taking a track pump? If not, happy to take mine

David, really sorry to hear that.... I'd offer you my town ride: it's a road geometry, but it is in the region of 13-14kg and 8 speeds...

I've attached .GPX files of the three Peak District sportive routes under GPS route files, and a.pdf map to download and print off under files.

I just noticed the paint chipped and flaking off around a 30mm crack on the inside of the non-drive side chainstay, just behind the bottom bracket - not somewhere you could hit the frame to damage the paint. Bit of a poke with a screw driver flaked out some carbon as well so thought it didn't seem the safest to keep riding. I did have my usual 2mph lie down yesterday at the lights but don't think that had anything to do with it. The frame is warrantied for 5 years so pretty sure I can get it sorted under that.

Time to pay for being cheap and buying online though - no spare bike and probably about a month of faffing before I get a replacement... Don't really know anyone lanky enough with a spare bike either. Might have tried a normal Saturday on the commuter but the Peak District is a bit much for 9 gears!

Shame, but better than ploughing the road with my face.

David
That's a real bummer. Can you borrow a spare bike from anyone or a shop?

David, did it get a knock or did you just notice the crack

I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass now - found a crack in my frame and don't think I'd trust it bombing down those big hills. I'm guessing it will take much more than a week to get it swapped :-(
