  • Fantastic music created using Mixcraft by Acoustica.

Newlands Youth Group member Angus Rose was one of a dozen members who worked with Dave Coyle earlier this year on a series of digital music workshops using Mixcraft software on the PC’s at Newlands Centre.

The workshops and Mixcraft software were funded by a grant Youth Group received from the CashBack for Communities programme.

Internet Safety

Posted by Joe Fernand, Saturday, 10th November 2012 @ 10:53am

  • Newly appointed Peebles Community Police Liaison Officer PC Shona Furness paid Newlands Youth Group a visit on Thursday 8th Nov. 2012.

PC Furness delivered a 30 min presentation including video and slide show on the dangers of accepting unknown ‘friends’ on Social Media websites, of posting too many personal details online and of uploading images and files you would not normally want to be made public.

PC Furness also stressed the danger of seemingly ‘harmless’ anti-social behaviour and reminded our members that even if you delete a post, image or threat you place online there is still a trail back to you which can be accessed for up to 7 years by the Police when investigating incidents of bullying or abuse!

PC Furness has suggested all parents and members take some time to study the information and guides on the ‘thinkyouknow’ website -

This is the first of a series of on-going visits Youth Group will be arranging to keep parents and members up to speed with the latest developments on the web.

A big group thank you to PC Furness for taking the time to visit Newlands Youth Group.
