WHO ARE WE?
We are an Agnostic Home Group in Support of Freethought.
Our Discussion Group meetings are held bi-weekly on a Tuesday evening at 7:00pm (Sept-June)…with the odd change to Monday or Wednesday if needed on any given week.
Generally we will watch an interesting video /documentary to stimulate discussion for these meetings. In our group, we encourage discussion on science and probable theories based on evidence. We tend to avoid videos & topics based on conspiracy theories, pseudoscience & personal religious beliefs (including New Age), etc… Our main video topics tend to lean towards topics of science, cosmology, evolution, archeology, history, environment, religion, human rights issues, etc. (As well as the odd video on Humanism, Unitarian Universalism, or other topics related to personal growth…without religious attached beliefs.)
We are not a super organized group or anything fancy. We are simply a small group of people (ranging from 6-12 active members) who meet bi-weekly. And we would like to extend the invitation out to others who share a common world-view and interest in discussion as listed above.
INTERESTED IN JOINING US?
Since we invite total strangers into our home, we prefer to pre-meet for coffee & casual chat with those interested in attending our meetings. Nothing too formal. Lol. This just helps us make sure we are adding safe members to our group. It also helps weed out those who have ulterior motives for joining. (Whether that is to debate & try convert us to their religious views or promote conspiracy theories, etc. ;) … but perhaps more importantly, it helps new attendees feel more comfortable coming into a home with a bunch of strangers for the first time.
So, if you would like meet up…here are a few simple questions that we ask you to answer with your initial email to us. Remember, this just helps confirm a common focus for joining our group & gives our other members an idea too…(Usually when a new person is added to our Group Spaces site, the answers given below will be added to their profile. Unless otherwise requested. This just helps everyone have a brief introduction to each other.
Remember: your answers don't have to be anything personal or extensive. :)
