Human Trafficking Workshop
- Define the issue of human trafficking and how it relates to professionals in counseling and social work
- Learn about the causes and indicators of human trafficking
- Fulfill the State of Michigan requirement for human trafficking training for all licensed counselors and social workers. Counseling Rule 338.1751a Rule 1a and Social Work 338.2929 Rule 29 Training standards for identifying victims of human trafficking; requirements.. (1) Pursuant to section 16148 of the code, MCL 333.16148, an individual licensed or seeking licensure shall complete training in identifying victims of human trafficking.
Presenters: Dr. Jeremy S. Norwood, is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology, Global Studies, and Criminal Justice at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. His research focuses on three major areas of human trafficking: migrant farmworker populations in Western Michigan, massage parlors in South-Central Michigan, and on Back page, plus other adult advertisement sections which advertise all over Michigan. Dr. Norwood has also served as a part of task forces in Calhoun, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties.
