This event is in the past.
Assalam u Aleikum
We hope this message finds you in best of health and spirit and we hope your preparations for the Holy month of Ramadan are coming along well.
This Ramadan Meca SoCal invites you to join us in the study of Surah Al-Mulk, the 67th Surah (Chapter) of the Quran and the first Surah of the 29th Juz. By collectively setting this goal we hope to gain some extra blessings and closeness with The Almighty while also giving people who usually do not get around to reading the Quran in Ramadan, a chance to do so.
We plan to do this by posting One Ayah (verse) of Surah Al-Mulk a day during the 30 days of Ramadan. This should work out well since Surah Al-Mulk consists of exactly 30 ayahs. This exercise will give us a chance to read the verse, learn the meaning of it, and reflect upon it throughout the day.
The verse will be posted on the Meca SoCal Facebook Wall as well as on our website (www.mecasocal.org), on the Bulletin Board.
Participation is voluntary and you will have the chance to share your thoughts and reflections about the verse if you wish to do so by writing a comment to the post.
So join us as we embark on this beautiful journey in a few days.
If you cannot read Arabic then read the English Translation and benefit from it.
If you can read the Arabic then do so along with the English translation and reflect on it, and benefit from it.
If you can read both the Arabic as well as the English then try to memorize it, and benefit from it.
Lets take one step beyond what we are comfortable with and do the absolute best.
May Allah accept our struggles, our ibadaat, and our fasts that we will be keeping for Him this Ramadan. May He make it a blessed month and leave us with a better understanding of the deen and the Quran.
P.S. The first verse will be posted on the 8th, the first night of Ramadan insha'Allah.
Introduction to Surah Al Mulk:
Sūrat al-Mulk (Arabic: سورة الملك) (The Sovereignty, Control; literally 'the kingdom') is the 67th sura (chapter) of the Qur'an, comprising 30 ayat. The name of this sura refers to Malik al Mulk (Arabic: مالك الملك) 'The Owner of All Sovereignty', literally 'King of the realm', one of the 99 Names of Allah. The sura preaches the infinite Power of Allah and states that those who reject warnings of Prophets will be companions of the Blazing Fire, meaning they will be punished in Hell . It has been told in Hadith that Prophet Muhammad has said that if every night Surat ul-Mulk is recited, then the reciter shall be protected from the tortures of the grave.
