Pre-Conference Workshop: $60 Presented by; Toby Kahn-Loftus (MCTE Region 10 Coordinator; Director, Top of the Mitt Writing Project, at NCMC, a hybrid project with Red Cedar Writing Project, MSU) Topic: Mentor Text Models to Enrich and Enliven Your Writing Instruction” Toby will share a rich variety of mentor texts across multiple genres and grade levels (MS - College) including numerous essays, poems, memoirs, and engaging mini-genres like testaments, rambling autobiographies, performance poems, digital stories, and more. Many of these texts are “one page wonders” that will inspire and engage student writers of all ages to find their voice on the page. (“One page wonder” is a term noted in Harvey Daniels’ and Nancy Steineke’s book Texts and Lessons for Teaching Literature, Heinemann, 2013.)
