PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP - Writing with Mentors

Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at 4:30pm - 7pm

Location: Kellogg Conference Center & Hotel - Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan

This event is in the past.

This year's pre-conference session will be framed around a terrific new text that all participants will receive:

“Writing with Mentors:
How to Reach Every Writer in the Room
Using Current, Engaging Mentor Texts”

By Allison Marchetti and Rebekah O’Dell;
Foreword by Penny Kittle;
Recommended by Kelly Gallagher;
Edited by Katy Wood-Ray

  • Are your mentor texts feeling worn out, tattered, and over used?
  • Do your writing models need a “makeover”?
  • Would you love having 60 new mentor texts at the tip of your fingers because they’re saved as a QR code or URL on your iPad or Smart Phone?

This text includes music reviews, video game reviews, book reviews, popular TV show reviews, restaurant reviews, poetry, sports’ star profiles, op-ed pieces, performance poetry, essays, narratives, satire, blog posts, and more!

Come practice "Reading Like a Writer" with several of these new mentor texts that you can take back into your classroom on Monday morning!

See you on Thursday, October 6, 2016!
