The Louisiana Genealogical & Historical Society, a nonprofit organization, was organized in 1953, to assist its members in tracing and recording their family history.
The LGHS received the Award for Achievement at the 1993 National Genealogical Society Conference in the States. The National Awards Program was established to recognize excellence, scholarship, and achievement in the field of genealogy.
