From Newbies to Marathoners... We, "Just Knock Out Running!"

No matter the distance, 1.5M, 4M, 10K, marathons, ultra runs, whether it is on a dirt path, mixed terrain or the streets of concrete jungles - we are there!! Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Aunties, Friends... Building strength & endurance. Improving cardiovascular fitness. Loosing weight. Connecting with our inner selves, the environment that surrounds us and others.

Finding peace. Satisfaction. With each step, each run an achievement. Becoming our very "bestest!!

Running Game Plan:

This group will meet a minimum of 3x a month for practice runs. I encourage members to suggest outings, you can do so via the J.K.O. Running Meetup page http://www.meetup.com/JKORunning/ or via email to JKORunning@gmail.com or via the Forum http://groupspaces.com/JKORunning/pages/about-j.k.o.-running if you are only joining us via the "groupspaces" platform. If you have a favorite running place, prefer to run at a particular time or day of the week, have a particular hang out you like to visit to unwind after a run or one to get your juices pumped before it, put it out there. Perhaps another member is looking for or would enjoy the same. Are you going to participate in an upcoming race? Please share any information you have (links etc.) with the team. Share your finish line story, pictures! INSPIRE!

If you would like to take a more active role assisting with the organization of this group please do not hesitate to reach out to me. The more runs we can schedule throughout all of NYC the greater the opportunity we can extend for more women to lace up, get in and stay in shape.

Let's also get together to volunteer with youth running groups or other organizations that promote running and fitness throughout the 5 boroughs when the opportunities arise.

Background "What's in a Name?"

The name J.K.O. Running (Just Knock Out Running) was inspired by the place of most of our team weekend runs, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (J.K.O.) Reservoir in Central Park (a serene setting with a cool track, enjoyed by runners, walkers and tourists from all over the world!) and the woman it is named after, who enjoyed walks and jogs around it and gave so much of herself to others (http://www.nytimes.co...)
