The Hartbeespoortdam CPF has embarked in an ambitious project to involve the CPF's Business-Watchgroup of our community (Sectors 1, 2 and 3) to help with the funding and construction of facilities needed to put the SAPS' dog-unit in operation.
A facility to accommodate 8 - 10 dogs is needed urgently, since the dogs and SAPS dog-handlers have already been approved and are ready to be relocated to Hartbeespoort.
A generous first contribution from the Hartbeespoortdam CPF's Business-Watchgroup has made it possible to turn the first soil and a area of ±450 square meters, earmarked for the dog-unit, has now been cleared and levelled... <read more here>
A Stolen Polaris quad bike was recovered by 3 of Ifafi/Melodie Neighbourhood Watch members about an hour after it was stolen (±02H44) on Saturday morning the 7th of July 2012
The quad was stolen by the thieves breaking the welding of the palisade fence, with a spanner of some sorts. This section of the palisade was opened like a gate and the quad pushed down Dam drive towards the bush between Melodie and Ifafi.
From there the quad was pushed along the dam’s shore in the direction of Schoemansville but the thieves were cut off from their intended escape route by Kobus and Nelis accompanied by a SAPS member that entered the dam’s shore line between Melodie and Schoemansville.
Around 03H30 Pieter Brand joined in with the search. At that moment, movement could be heard in the bush and Nelis, Pieter and Kobus ran in the direction of the noise. During this commotion Pieter spotted the quad hidden in dense bush behind the Melody Waters complex while the thieves disappearing in thin air.
The quad was towed back to Ifafi around 4H30.

Our camera network is currently being extended to give even better coverage of our neighbourhood. The “good old faithful’s” of our neighbourhood watch dirtied their hands on Saturday 16 June and planted an additional 3 strategic camera poles which will be populated with cameras within the next few weeks.
