Hello and what happened to Winter?! Pat and I have a couple of duplicate books you might want to add to your prepper's bookshelf.

"CARLA EMERY'S OLD FASHIONED RECIPE BOOK (an encyclopedia of country living)": If you have only one book on your prepping/homesteading bookshelf, this is the one: recipes for grains, vegetables, sweets, dairy products, poultry and meat dishes, are combined with advice on food preservation, gardening, beekeeping, raising livestock, soap making, and much more. In the homesteading community, this book is both fundamental, and a classic.

printed by Bantam Books in 1977, 530 pages (feels like construction paper), paperback. price is $25, sold as is, where is, cash only. book is in used, good condition, with no missing pages.

"FOXFIRE 3": Part of the "Foxfire" series, which attempted to capture the spirit of Appalachian mountain folk and their "old school" or old-fashioned ways of simple living, book 3 features detailed articles and photos on animal care, banjos and dulcimers, hide tanning, summer and fall wild plant foods, butter churns, and ginseng.

printed by Anchor Books in 1975, 512 pages, paperback. price is $20, sold as is, where is, cash only. book is in good, used condition, with no missing pages.

contact is Jim or Pat McGinty, 509-92-0326 (please leave a message), or through e-mail at:

we can arrange a meeting of like minds, or you can pay postage.

Winter INWP Schedule: NO EVENING MEETINGS at Grange Hall!

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Sunday, December 22nd, 2019 @ 8:40am

Effective today, there will be NO evening meetings at the Blanchard Grange until March!
This is a safety consideration, with dark, snow and ice.
Regular Grange Meetings and Potlucks will be proceeding as scheduled and announced by Alan Mock, but INWP will NOT be staying afterwards as usual.
I'll adjust the calendar listings shortly.
Check with Alan to see if there is a Grange Pot Luck tomorrow, 12/23.

We WILL HAVE Pot Luck / Meetings in Cocolalla at Noon on 2nd Sundays - see calendar listings.
We WILL HAVE Ordered Dinner & Social Meetings, Blanchard Inn, 5:30 3rd Thursdays - see calendar listings.

We ANTICIPATE having a Cool-Weather Gardening Presentation (or series) in March.  This will likely be Sunday Afternoon(s) in either Blanchard or Newport/Oldtown, $5 per event to handle costs & space rent.  This concept may keep you alive!  In case you've not noticed, our GDD - Growing Degree Days - are shrinking.  So much for Global Warming.

hello folks: our elderly neighbor has moved into a long term care facility, after her husband (the prepper) recently died. she asked us to sell the remaining #10 cans to clear out the basement, and to help defray the costs of her care. all cans were purchased around 2008, so there is still quite a bit of storage time left. additionally, the cans were stored in a cool, dry, smoke-free basement, and appear to be just fine.

"Rainy Day" brand shortening powder - $10 - 1 can is available. "Rainy Day" brand hot breakfast cereal ("Germade") - $5 - 1 can is available. "Rainy Day" brand instant, non-fat powdered milk - $12 - 5 cans are available. "Country Cream" brand instant, non-fat powdered milk - $12 - 4 cans are available. "Honeyville Farms" brand whey milk substitute - $12 - 4 cans are available. "Honeyville Farms" brand powdered whole eggs - $15 - 3 cans are available.

all #10 cans are sold as is, where is, and for cash only. e-mail or call us (509-292-0326 - please leave a message) for delivery/pick up.

Deja Vu: a replay of April 19 1775?

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Thursday, December 19th, 2019 @ 1:02pm

Sent by an observant member:

We are at the end of 2019 and if you watched the impeachment process you already know we are no longer in "normal times".  However, it could get much worse in the year ahead.

If you have not been following events in State of Virginia, you should be.  The podcast here (below) from 299 Days  "Glen Tate" and "Shelby Gallagher"  closely reviews the activities already stacked up in Virginia where nearly all the Counties have declared themselves as "2nd Amendment Sanctuaries"...and the Governor is threatening to enforce new and draconian gun control laws.

Things are moving ahead and it's very possible there could be fighting between State Police and county militia in a replay of April 19 1775 with the State Police playing the part of the British Red Coats ..  ??

Praying that cooler heads prevail, but I agree with Glen and Shelby that we are in a different times and it's very possible that things could spiral out of control in 2020 !

"When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; when you see that money is flowing to those who deal not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get rich more easily by graft than by work, and your laws no longer protect you against them, but protect them against you. . . you may know that your society is doomed."

Apply to be a HUB for your area!

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Friday, December 6th, 2019 @ 11:51pm

Apply to be a HUB for your area!

Email me ( if this describes you:

You enjoy helping / teaching others;

You are more versed than average in prep / sustainability topics;

You have more than average stuff "stashed";

You travel with prep items ("bugout bags", etc) in vehicle;

You are pretty adept with firearms, first aid, 2-way radios and fire-starting, and

Invariably have these items on you.

These are SOME of the basics expected of a HUB to their neighborhood's SPOKES.  We have Senior Cadre Members of various topics that are willing to enhance the training of HUB personnel in the INW.  These HUBS would be expected to cultivate their neighborhood SPOKES - consider this to be a Train The Trainer Program.

The days are past for Senior Cadre to be going out to train everyone.  We are developing a tiered model that will create overlapping geographic HUB wheels, mirrored in the comms world, also.

Interested in being identified as a Senior Cadre or as a HUB?

Time is Short -

Step forward with an email to me before Sunday's Dinner / Party, so we can chat & plan.

Icom IC-7200 Radio for sale

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Friday, December 6th, 2019 @ 6:30pm

JJS sent this email to forward to the group. please contact JJS if interested. Respond to: "Sorry, I meant to email you earlier today. I know this is short notice, but I have an Icom IC-7200 that I picked up and never used. It's 'like new' condition. The person I bought it from bought it new, hooked it to power, and never used it on the air. I got it from him for $700 and am willing to sell it for what I have into it. It also comes with the upgraded front handles/guards, which cost $60-$80 new. Those are included. If anyone responds showing serious interest I will drive to Hayden tomorrow and bring the rig with me. Again, I know it's short notice, but it would be a HUGE help, if you wouldn't mind passing it on. I wanted to give the local AmRRON folks first shot at a great deal before putting it on Craigslist for $750. Thanks, and God bless! -JJS"

Great Deeds, inwPrep!

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Friday, December 6th, 2019 @ 8:46am

Hello everyone! This is Michelle from the Blanchard Community Center.
A couple of weeks ago, an email was sent out regarding a neighbor in need, who is trying to move into a VERY VERY TINY house for the winter, which is basically a shell. She needs insulation and other materials to make the home habitable. Russ has reached out to her and donated the  insulation that she needs, and inwPrep has collected $130 towards materials we will need to purchase. Thank you for your generosity towards a neighbor in need this winter. It is very much appreciated.

We are bringing the Moving Wall to Newport for next years Stand Down and could use all the support we can get. This is a big commitment for an organization as small as ours - if you are able to help it would be appreciated.

Why We Prepare: The (GSM) Grand Solar Minimum and the "Harvest from Hell"

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Monday, November 25th, 2019 @ 10:33pm

The (GSM) Grand Solar Minimum and THIS Year's "Harvest from Hell" - as reported by FARMERS.

Those who know me, know that my internet is so poor that I don't spend time watching Utoobs.  When one of our well-grounded members sounds an alarm, however, I tend to check it out.  I admit the first vid went a little over my head, but the 2nd (Ice Age Farmer) really got my attention.

"FAMINE" is more of a biblical than commonplace word nowadays.  However, simply insert the words "Irish Potato" in front of that word, and then go study how the courses of individuals, families, nations and continents were shifted . . . immediately.  Then think: what if there was a shortage of "Seed" potatoes, for even a year?

Guess what?  There IS - Right NOW!!  Start buying your organic heirloom spuds now from the grocery, and save the "sprouting" ones.
Buy sacks of wheat & other grains (50 lbs for less than $11).
We've been talking about this for years!!!  Eleven Bucks!!!!!!!  Grind it, sprout it, cook it . . .hey, if you screw it up, toss it to the birds & try again.  There is NO
REASON to be without food storage.  NONE!

Here's the email I was sent.  Make your own informed decisions, then take action.  Now.  Today.

First and favorite for me is Adapt2030 David Dubyne latest video is here:

Next is Ice Age Farmer.. his latest is here:

Lastly, but I do not like his style, but information is often very good is Oppenheimer Ranch :

The last one has the comments about Cascadia subduction quake in next 6-8 months...but, I want to find other information about that might confirm the time line..

SCRIPT: Current INWP MAG "Emergency Preparedness Practice Net"

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 @ 8:19pm

SCRIPT:  Current INWP MAG "Emergency Preparedness Practice Net"

Folks, this is the Current INWP MAG "Emergency Preparedness Practice Net" Script that's been in use for the past year.  For the sake of continuity and uniformity, unless otherwise agreed to at one of our meetings, it will be used by local nets you may run in our group:

Good (Morning, HooDoo)!

This is (Kilo India Seven, Bravo India Victor) with the (HooDoo Area) Emergency Preparedness Practice Net.  My name is (Russ) and I am (between Spirit Lake and Blanchard).  This operator is one of the many members of the Radio Free Redoubt's Channel 3 Project.  You may find more information at HooDooCH3 dot com.

We generally have informal Radio Checks, for those who are available, at (8:45 AM) every (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) on this frequency of 146 point 420, in case of an emergency or in preparation for one.

At this time, I am asking if there are any other AmRRON, InwPrep, C.E.R.T. - "Community Emergency Response Team" - members, or anyone else within the sound of my voice who would like a radio check-in.  If so, please state your call sign slowly and phonetically, such as (Kilo ... India ... Seven.... , Bravo...  India ... Victor), followed by your name and approximate location.  I will take check-ins one at a time; start calling in now, please!

after check ins stop, say:

OK, Let's move on to contacts made on the Channel 3 project.  Please call out with the number of contacts you made in the previous 15 minutes on Channel 3 of FGMRS, MURS, or CB Radio:

After those stop, say:

OK, do we have any brief announcements to make?

OK, do we have any calls for assistance?  Any help needed?

OK, this concludes our (morning) check-in exercise.  If you wwere able to hear us, but not reach us, feel free to notify us by phone or email.  Contact information is posted at com.  A list of our meetings and events are posted on the calendar at

73, Everyone; God Bless us all, and God Bless our Constitutional Republic, the United States that FORM America.

This is (Kilo India Seven, Bravo India Victor) - Thanking each one of YOU, and standing by.  Our next net will be on (Day) at (Time).

A "Semi-Farewell" from Russ

E-mail sent by BG1RS 22PLINKER, Saturday, September 21st, 2019 @ 1:12am

Holy Shift!

Holy shift.  That’s how I look at things, sometimes.  A few years ago, I recognized that I was going through an energetic shift in my life, and I wrote about it to the group.  When the dust settled, I had handed over the Home Inspection ( side of business to Jeanne while keeping the Mold Inspections and Testing ( .  I expanded the Pistol Prof ( endeavor because I realized that a good part of my Mission was to make folks (especially ladies) more safe, confident and competent with their handguns in these troubled times.
Talk about a leap of faith!  Neither of these venues had ever come close to making a mortgage payment, much less pay the rest of my monthly bills.  Now, in addition, I was being directed to radically expand the whole “INW Preparedness Training Group” ( and Ham Radio ( venture throughout north Idaho and even into Washington.  This expansion consumed as much of my time as a full time job, and would generally cost me about $200.00 every month in fuel, advertising, printing, memberships, equipment, materials, etc.  The meager mold and pistol income, along with some greatly appreciated contributions from you folks, supported this Mission.
Here’s a good time to publicly thank Jeanne for tolerating – even supporting - my 5 year loss of sanity.  Over-aged vehicles, a malfunctioning stove, no vacations, you name it, she put up with it.

So, here I am, in my 67th year on this planet, with not much to show for it, a mortgage still to deal with, income drying up like the apples out in the dehydrators, and me praying and meditating for Guidance.  The world is certainly in no better shape than it was five years ago, but hopefully several hundred families may be better prepared for what may lie ahead.  I’m not sure what my next personal chapter will be, but I do know that I’ve been Guided to minimize my involvement with all these projects.  Like taking old clothes out of a closet, I’m making room for more and newer.  The Message I’m to give to you is “COMS”: Community Organized Mutual Support.  This ties in with what has been my focus for the past year or so: CommUnity and CommUnications.  Without them, we are lost.
BTW, if you want to fast-track, get together with your neighbors and do a chapter a week from Tess Pennington.  You don’t even have to buy the book; just go here:  .  Ranger Rick and I have been touting this manual for years.  Next, buy as many BaoFeng UV-5R radios as you can in the next week, while the current version is still legal to purchase.  If you don’t know why, you will soon enough; someone will explain it (again).
My work has become antiquated (funny to hear that from a flip-phone guy typing on MS Word 2003 in Windows 7, huh?), as all what I’ve been sharing & teaching is available on the internet.  What is not available there rests squarely on YOUR shoulders and is YOUR responsibility: COMS.  NO one can do this for you.  Develop relationships with everyone you can think of, within bicycle and FRS (cheapo walkie-talkie) range.  Become the hub of your own COMS Group, then ensure that the folks on the outer geographic fringe of your Group are also members of an adjacent COMS Group.
Aside from Pistol Prof, I am not scheduling any more classes at this point.  Upcoming COMS Group Leader meetings will generally be the 3rd Thursdays, 6PM, of the month at the Blanchard Inn (order from menu) and also 2nd Mondays (bring a snack to share), 7PM at the Blanchard Farmers’ Grange Hall, right after their monthly business meeting.  Who is a COMS Group Leader?  You are.  If you have, or are developing, a circle of interest in your neighborhood and want to trade involvement ideas with others, show up.  Interact.  Face to face.  Give your twitter thumbs a rest, look folks in the eye, and develop trusting relationships.  Bring someone half your age along; tell them there’s a room full of blue-hairs that want to hire youngsters to get some work done.
Finally, I’ll venture a bold prediction:  I believe that this new Holy Shift I’m entering has to do with the new corporation Jeanne & I formed with Thomas “Solar Guy” Quinlin: .  I believe that the years I lived totally off-grid on solar prepared me for this in a unique way.  I’ll help families homestead in peaceful remote valleys where they can afford organic land untouched by an electric utility’s umbilical cord.  I also believe that more women, neighborhood (COMS) groups, churches (like my favorite, CocolallaCowboyChurch), families and even businesses will be calling for my affordable training, than ever before.
Please, continue being a part of my Mission.

Thanks and Blessings!
