Happy New Year to you and your goats,
Hello Russell Spriggs,
As 2017 comes to an end, I thought it would be interesting to see what were the top articles of the year. After all, my goal is to be helpful, and by looking at what people read the most, I can see what is most important to you. Hopefully I can produce even more helpful posts in 2018.
#1 Copper Deficiency in Goats -- This was easily my most popular post of the year, and I've heard from many people who've been helped by the information. They've overcome infertility in their goats, as well as parasite problems and smaller issues such as poor coat conditions.
#2 The Genetics Behind Blue-Eyed and Polled Goats -- Although these two traits are very popular in goats, I still see a lot of misinformation about the genetics behind them, which is why I wrote this article that explains exactly how you can wind up with goats that have blue eyes or are polled (naturally hornless).
#3 Avoiding Copper Toxicity in Goats -- Although copper deficiency is far more common than copper toxicity, many people are afraid to supplement with copper because they've been told that they could overdose their goats. This post explains the facts and the myths and misinformation behind copper toxicity.
#4 Goat Minerals -- If you're wondering why your goats need minerals, what kind they need, and how to provide it for them, then check out this post.
#5 Castrating Goats and Sheep With a Burdizzo -- This post explains why we chose the Burdizzo after trying surgical castration and banding. Not only was this the fifth most popular new article in 2017, it was also the most controversial.
What topics do you want to learn more about in 2018? Just hit reply and let me know!
Reminder: My new goat birthing course will be open for registration on January 8. Every time I close course registration or a coupon expires, I get emails from people who missed the deadline, so I'm hoping that by giving everyone a heads up, you can get on the waiting list, mark your calendar, and be ready when the course is open for registration.
Happy New Year to you and your goats,

Subject: store clearance
Hello my friend,
Please let everyone in your circle know we are changing our store dramatically. Almost everything in the store is on sale and almost all of the "prepper" stuff including the medical and camping inventory will not be replenished. If anyone is interested in the Wondermill grain mill I must sell three before the end of the year or I will lose my dealership. So if anyone is interested and is willing to order one and place a $100 deposit I will sell the deluxe for $176.00 and the basic model for $152. This is my cost with shipping. We are becoming an herbal store for the most part. We will keep some of the odd ball stuff but not much.

Skills / hobbies to share with this group::
Well, I'm a generalist at heart, which means I know a little about a lot of things. Some of the areas I know a bit more about though, are ham radio, aviation, graphic arts, database and web design, computer networking, personal and computer security, astronomy and photography.
What topic(s) would you like to learn?:
food prep (canning, dehydration, etc.) for long-term storage
As a Bonner County emergency response volunteer and amateur radio (ham) operator I actively promote the value of being prepared. As a technology expert and trainer for 26 years, I help others help themselves. I know knowledge alone is not enough; taking action is the key to preparedness, whether for an an impending storm or an unexpected disaster. To me that means having certain goods on-hand and skills on-board before you may need them. So first and foremost, I help teach personal accountability and self-reliance.
How did you hear about us?:
From Russ, naturally!

ALSO, Gifting Option-
If everyone is cool and wants to participate, the "Reverse Santa" gift-stealing, otherwise known as "White elephant" of $10.00 gift limit is added on. If I might add, I'd also suggest that the $10.00 gift exchange be preparedness in theme. This is not mandatory, only if you want to do the gift exchange. More important is your presence.
NOTE: If your schedule limits your attendance to the meeting only, no worries there, just attend the meeting. And the reverse works as well, if you can only be there for the party, you are most welcome, too. This is your event!
RSVP to Brenda.Bramwell@bonnercountyid.gov. You can tell me what you plan to bring in case you want to coordinate.
Here's a chance for June Class CERTs and new CERT grads to meet one another. It's an opportunity to find out who amongst you live closest to one another!
