Zug4You, an online media platform for local issues, invites expats to an “After Work Politics” event at the Siehbachsaal on Tuesday, April 23rd at 6.30pm. The agenda includes a brief explanation of the Swiss political system as well as an update on the forthcoming referendum (19th May) on the federal act on tax reform and AHV financing, the reform of the gun law (EU weapons directive) and the revision of the building and planning law. These issues will likely interest expats, even those who cannot (yet) vote ;-) Information about this event may be found on the Zug4You website as well as in the attached flyer.
4th Lake Zug Crossbow Shooting Contest, Chollermühl, Zug, 25-28 April & 3-5 May, 2019
For those who want to see how William Tell did it, both Zug and Steinhausen have crossbow archery contests on the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. Please see the website of the Armbrustschützen-Gesellschaft Zug for details. The ASG also offers a course starting April 18th for youngsters interested in learning crossbow archery.
"Mäid in Schwiizerland", Spring Yodler Concert, Gemeindesaal Baar, 27 April 2019
For those interested in appreciating this traditional Swiss folklore, the yodler chorus Echo Baarburg presents their annual concert in the Gemeindehaus in Baar. The concert begins at 20.00, but those who wish to eat beforehand or buy tickets for the lottery are welcome beginning at 18:30. No reservations are needed and admission is free, but a collection will be taken at the door.

Wings for Life World Run, 5 May 2019. 13:00
The annual Wings for Life World run starts in Zug at 13:00 on Sunday, May 5th, presumably from the Bossard Arena. If you can't make it there, you can also participate via app. Registration is required. The proceeds are used to support research into the treatment of spinal cord injuries. On Sunday, May 12th, the Zuger Sinfonietta will feature the soloist Tanja Tetzlaff, performing the well-known cello concerto by Edward Elgar. The Sinfonietta will also perform a new arrangement by George Morton of Gustav Holst's beloved suite, "The Planets" under the direction of Daniel Huppert. Switzerland During the Cold War, Museum Burg Zug, from 19 June 2019
Switzerland continued to build out its defenses after the end of World War II, especially its anti-aircraft batteries. The Museum Burg Zug will open a special exhibition commemorating the Swiss response to the Cold War starting on June 16th. As a key element of this special exhibition, the museum would like to display a "Bloodhound" anti-aircraft battery in front of the museum, However, the museum needs financial support from the public to finance the transport and installation.
