City wall of Zug – one of the best preserved in Switzerland

After meeting at the Zytturm, Markus will take the participants to the top of the tower. From there one can admire one the best views of the city, including its historical center. Then all will walk along the walls with description of the historical events, the buildings and the many towers. The tour will last about 2 hours. At the end, there will be a stop at a renowned coffee shop in the city center.
A small contribution of CHF 10.- is expected.
In the old days, Zug was surrounded by a protecting wall. Remains of the broken walls can still be seen. Most of you are probably familiar with the Old Gunpowder Tower (Pulverturm), which stood at the south-eastern corner The walls of the Pulverturm are as thick as 270 centimetres in parts; this is because the tower was used to store gunpowder. It is not possible to visit the tower at present, though it is available for hire for parties and such like.
