The Adirondack Park Agency’s (APA) Economic Services Unit provides a diversity of services to local governments and businesses to help achieve economic and community development goals. With staffing from Dan Kelleher and assistance from other Agency divisions, the Agency offers the following services to the Park’s local governments:
Economic Development Planning -The Agency can assist your community in identifying long-term and short-term strategies to achieve your economic and community development goals. Whether you have an existing plan or not, Agency staff will work with you to identify, prioritize, and implement economic development projects critical to your residents.
Hamlet Economic Planning and Assistance (HEPA) Program -Through HEPA, the Agency works with local governments to develop and implement a plan for economic improvement of the community’s commercial center. The initiative provides a client municipality with an economic blueprint for the revitalization of the community's commercial center and builds upon local capacity for project implementation. Continued support for project development is made available by the Agency.
Economic and Demographic Data Collection and Analysis -The Agency can provide baseline information about the economic and demographic makeup of your community to support your planning goals.
Market Analysis -Retail and commercial service offerings can be predicted through population and demographic analysis. Whether you seek to attract a new grocery store or large retail outlet center, the Agency can provide you with the data analysis necessary to determine the feasibility of retail and commercial services.
Project Siting and Permitting -The Agency assists project and economic developers in evaluating potential business locations. The Agency can also help project sponsors move through the APA permitting process.
Industry Retention and Recruitment -Agency staff has experience in industry retention and recruitment. Agency staff can assist you in marketing and attracting new businesses to your community.
Business Planning Assistance -The Agency can work with local businesses on business planning, market analysis, and resource connections to help them expand and create jobs.
Community Presentations and Training -Agency staff routinely provide presentations to local civic groups and government entities. Presentations can be developed based upon the specific needs of the audience. Past presentations have included retail economics and development, Main Street revitalization, Adirondack Park Agency services, economic development planning, and smart growth planning.
