Society Overview
Winners of the "New Society of the Year 2010" award at the HWUSA Oscars. The Heriot-Watt University Motorsports Society was formed to assist students with an interest in motorsports to become actively involved, be it as a competitor, official or marshal.
The more experienced members of the society also represent the University in the British Universities' Karting Championship and the office bearers envisage that it will be possible for a society member to begin Karting in group events with the society before taking part in the BUKC to develop driving technique and racecraft before reaching the stage where they would be capable of competing in National and club level events after leaving University should they wish.
HWUMS Karting Championsip- Society runs a Karting Championship for members to participate in if they wish. Usually spread over 4 a minimum of 4 races across the academic year at tracks around Edinburgh.
If HWUMS cannot offer the field of motorsports that is of interest to you. Then through links being established with other motorsports clubs at several universities in Scotland then we should be able to cater for you.
Motorsports Society runs an annual trip to the Autosport International Show in Birmingham every January. Details for this trip are normally discussed around November/December time.
