"Hey there Rotary Satelliters! Jon here. (Kerrie is on a boat... possibly with a nautical themed pashmina afghan??) ;-)
Just a reminder that our Satellite meeting tomorrow is a SOCIAL event and will be at NEW BELGIUM on the patio starting at 5:30 (not Mike Sollenberger's house). Spouses and guest are welcome! Please bring any guests you feel may be a "good fit" for the Satellite as this is a great time to showcase our accomplishments and recruit like-minded individuals. While it will be a casual evening, I do want to brainstorm a little about what we want to accomplish as a group during the 2017-2018 Rotary year, so I will be taking some informal polls between sips of 1554.
** A quick note regarding new member recruitment: What exactly is a "good fit" for Rotary, you ask? Great Rotarians come in all shapes, sizes, occupations and mindsets, but probably the characteristic that defines us all is that we give selflessly (our time, our passion, our knowledge, monetary support, etc). Rotary wants community leaders as members that exemplify the pillars of Rotary in our everyday lives. We all know the 4-Way Test by now, which is an ethical guideline, but also keep in mind that Rotary International has 6 Focus Areas: 1) Promoting Peace, 2) Fighting Disease, 3) Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, 4) Saving Mothers & Children, 5) Supporting Education, and 6) Growing Local Economies. My experience in the Rotary Club of Fort Collins has shown me that our club and its members are really, really good at tackling those issues both on an international-level as well as locally... and all of us do it selflessly. Please keep that in mind as we look to recruit new members to our club in the coming years. Who do you know that exemplifies the pillars of Rotary?
See you at New Belgium tomorrow!
