An American friend and fellow musician described me in an introduction as a 'musical missionary'.
Like most Americans she tends to go over the top but the phrase made me think.  If asked how I would like to be remembered it would most certainly be as a 'musical missionary' because I fervently believe in the importance of music in the lives, not only of children, but of everyone.

Day to day I work with schoolchildren, mostly in Secondary but also Special Needs and, of course meet many Primary pupils who are members of Dunfermline Junior Chorus, as well as the adults of Dunfermline Choral Union, so within a week I have contacts ranging from seven-year-olds to pensioners!  I love it!!

I have been hugely privileged to work with children and adults in Scotland and England as well as Canada and the United States. conducting, teaching and lecturing and what I gain from this experience enriches my life immensely.
I really do feel that my 'mission' is to persuade that music, and particularly singing, has the power to transform lives.
