The Club is again organising Pilot Lecture sessions and an Exam night for all members wishing to take the BHPA Pilot(P) Rating.
These will be held at Tilsworth Golf Centre (LU7 9PU), on four consecutive weeks finishing with the actual Pilot Exam night on the forth evening. These will run from 7.30 - 10.00pm.
Low airtime pilots are especially welcome, even if you're not ready to sit the Pilot exam. You will learn at lot about the various lecture topics and tasks you will need to pass the Pilot Exam in the future.
PLEASE NOTE: Pilots sitting the exam must have completed ALL the tasks on their Task Form in your Log Books and had them signed off by a Club Coach or Instructor BEFORE sitting the exam. The BHPA requires all tasks to be signed off before sitting the exam. We will send the exams back to the BHPA for marking the day after the exam night.
Task Forms are available from the new Club website:
http ://dunstablehpc . com/club-info/coaching
The exam paper is sub-divided into the three sections (Airlaw, Flight Theory & Meteorology). All three sections must be be attempted during the 1 hour 45 minute time period allowed. The exam is multiple-choice and has a pass mark of 70%. Pilots failing the exam have to wait 4 months before they can re-sit the whole exam again.
You need to get all your tasks signed off on the hill by Club Coaches. I will need to see proof of all the tasks being completed including Logbooks before you can sit the exam.
You will also need the Pilot Exam Application Form which is inside the BHPA Pilot Task Book, which you should have received after you left the School. Order one from the BHPA direct if you do not have a Task Book.
If you want to keep a copy of the Lecture itself (PDF-90mb) can you bring a USB stick with you, and I will download them on each evening session. Or you can take written notes, it's up to you.
