WG - Competitiveness in Rural and Urban Areas

About

Due to the European Commission's EUSDR Action Plan (Document SEC(2010) 1489, December 2010), WG Competitiveness in Rural and Urban Areas processes the following actions:

"To improve framework conditions for SMEs in areas where competitive infrastructure is missing."

"To improve competitiveness of rural areas and in particular of the agricultural sector."

Ongoing Activities



The WG "Competitiveness in Rural and Urban Areas" introduced SIRA- "Smart and Innovative Rural Areas" as institutional platform for research, innovation and technology transfer to bridge science and economy. Goal of this initiative is to install 3-5 Centers of Competence to professionalize rural innovation knowledge system.

In general SIRA wants to foster innovative and competitive rural development. Another important aim is the economic diversification and business development especially for SMEs.
