Increasing Your Effectiveness in Using Type:
Deepening Understanding and Use with Type Dynamics and Development

We all agree that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) instrument is a valuable tool for understanding ourselves and for helping our clients understand themselves and others. Most type practitioners, however, stay at the surface level of type usage.

Carl Jung’s psychological type theory is a dynamic picture of personality. Isabel Briggs Myers decided to construct an instrument with four separate scales to allow people to quickly identify their Jungian psychological type, but she always intended the four letters as a starting point for exploring Jung’s dynamic theory of personality.

Myers believed that Jung’s theory was about how people use their perception and their judgment. This is the core, the anchor, as we explore this deeper level of understanding and using type.

After an overview of the seldom explored work of Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers, this interactive type dynamics and development workshop will add value to your use of type by clarifying how the following influence us in all areas and stages of our lives:

§  The power of the dominant function, the center post of personality

§  Differences in the way a function is experienced and expressed when it is extraverted and when it is introverted

§  The balancing aspect of our auxiliary function

§  Differences in people’s expression of a type when it is developed or underdeveloped

§  How others see us – our communication style

§  How we see our non-preferred parts – type bias

§  A psychological type model of development

AND how to incorporate these tools into your professional work with type.
