In July 2012 CMIAID purchased an apartment building in the village of Zirnesti, Republic of Moldova. The five storey building use to house families in 49 units. It was built at the end of the communist era with construction completed in 1989 - the year that the communist regime crumbled across Eastern Europe.
At that time the building belonged to the government and was state housing. When the government collapsed many of the utilities such as water, electricity and heating stopped. Within a year the building was abandoned with the residents finding housing in other areas.
Part of the building will be used to house a nursing home with 30 beds for elderly residents. A medical clinic will be located on the ground floor along with a Soup Kitchen (for the poorest of the community) and a Coffeeshop to make contact with other residents in the area. The building will also be used for many other ministries including children's work, English language teaching, Postal Bible School and Bible Study Conferences. Some workers will also be housed in the building.
The renovation of the building is a long term project and we expect it will be done step by step as the Lord provides labourers and funds. Please pray with us for this project in Moldova!
