Hi All,

Unfortunately because of the recent heavy rains the Bradgate Trust has withdrawn permission for us to run across Bradgate Park. In these circumstances we've had to cancel the race. If you're a competitor you should have received an Email informing you of this. If you are marshaling or helping with the catering then you'll get an Email from Zoe or Lisa letting you know as well.

Obviously we are bitterly disappointed, since the race has never been cancelled before.

We hope that we can run the race in 2021, but we will also be considering other options.

Bowline CC - Charnwood Hills Race 2020 Cancellation

E-mail sent by Dave Toach, Friday, 17th January 2020 @ 11:11am

Dear Runner

It is with regret that we have to announce the cancellation of this year's Charnwood Hills Race.

Following recent heavy rains, the trustees of Bradgate have withdrawn permission for us to cross the Park. As such we have no alternative but to cancel the race.

We will be refunding all entry fees in full as soon as possible.

We apologise for the cancellation but it has been brought about by factors beyond our control.

We hope to see you in 2021.

Best regards
Race Committee

Bowline CC - BMC Youth Climbing Series, volunteers needed

E-mail sent by Andrew Potter, Friday, 10th January 2020 @ 1:40pm

Hi Bowliners,

As you are hopefully already aware a number of club members are also volunteers with the BMC. The BMC Youth Climbing Series competition (Midlands and Peak area) is taking place over the next few months. We are looking for keen climbers/boulderers to volunteer as judges for the competition. This is a great opportunity to help support a new generation of climbers, and see some really impressive bouldering/climbing skills.

Some familiarity with bouldering/climbing competitions would be an advantage. But if you don't feel confident judging we are also looking for some volunteers to help with competitor registration and collating the results.

The 1st round takes place on Saturday 25th January at The Climbing Station in Loughborough from 9am to 5pm (for volunteers). If you can help all day that would really great, but any time you can spare could be helpful.

Contact the Midlands Area Youth Co-ordinator - Claudia Sarner -

Kind regards,

Bowline CC - Club news (Tuesday 7th January)

E-mail sent by Andrew Potter, Wednesday, 8th January 2020 @ 1:16am

Happy New Year Bowliners! Welcome to a new decade of adventures with our club. Talking of adventures our new meet secretary, Michael Jones, is busy lining up a great series of meets for the year. Big thanks to those who've already stepped forward to help organise the meets, we might be looking for some more volunteers so do get involved. Organising meets is not as difficult as you might think, and if lots of us get involved then we each only need to do a little bit!

On the subject of getting involved you'll have seen several requests for help with the Charnwood Hills Race on Sunday 2nd February. This is a really important event for the club and we really do need as many of you as possible to help make it a success. A big thanks to those who've already volunteered, but we need more of you, its good fun and there is a free pint at the pub afterwards so what are you waiting for?

We're all set for our skiing trip to Les Arcs this coming weekend. We've filled all the places and we'll try not to make you to jealous with pictures of us having a great time on the Facebook page.

For those of you keen to work off the Christmas excesses our weekly evening bouldering/climbing sessions are just what you need. It's bouldering at The Climbing Station every Tuesday from 6pm, and roped climbing at The Tower every Thursday from 6pm.

A quick reminder that the next meeting will be on Thursday 23rd January, 7:30pm at Pete's house. All club members are welcome to attend committee meetings.
