Writing Book Club

Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 at 7pm - 8:30pm

Location: Boulder Book Store

This event is in the past.

Lori DeBoer’s Writing Book Club will meet on Wednesday, February 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Boulder Book Store, 1107 Pearl Street, Boulder.

The event is free and open to the public.

The book for February is Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See

This is a book club kicked up a notch. The emphasis of discussion will be all about the writing. That is, we’ll be digging into what makes a book the kind of book that attracts readers. We’ll cover a lot of territory, including the book’s plot, pacing, characterization, dialogue, scene-setting, narrative arc, voice and all the other strategies the author employed in its writing. We’ll also talk a little bit about the author’s road to publication and anything I can dig up on the writing process.

Meetings will occur regularly on the third Wednesday of each month.

We as a whole realize that it is more advantageous to read a wide assortment of styles and types to enable your writing to develop, yet it tends to be hard to drive yourself to pickup books outside your comfort. http://www.speedycoursework.co.uk/

I'm really enjoying reading this phenomenal book. It's full of imagery and details that draw you into the characters world. Looking forward to hearing what everyone else thinks and breaking it down for the benefit of us who also write!
