Partial Squash Resumption

Hi all

I’m guessing we are all eagerly anticipating the opening of squash at the weekend, sadly Medway Park will not be opening Squash to the public in the near future as the council do not currently have the resources to safely accommodate play.  However, further to discussions with management at Medway Park, members of Black Lion Squash Club who are also premier members at Medway Park have kindly been permitted to play at certain times while adhering to the guidelines stipulated by England Squash https:/www.englandsquash.com/backtosquash  Competitive play is only permitted with members of the same household with a maximum of 2 people on court at any one time.  Players would be required to play sides (cross court only) when playing with anyone outside of their own household.

Players of our club who have premier membership at Medway Park will be permitted to book squash courts at the following times:

Monday 3.30pm - 4.15pm 3 courts

4.30pm - 5.15pm 3 courts

5.30pm - 6.15pm 3 courts

6.30pm - 7.15pm 3 courts

Tuesday 3.30pm - 4.15pm 3 courts

4.30pm - 5.15pm 3 courts

5.30pm - 6.15pm 3 courts

6.30pm - 7.15pm 3 courts

Thursday 3.30pm - 4.15pm 3 courts

4.30pm - 5.15pm 3 courts

5.30pm - 6.15pm 3 courts

6.30pm - 7.15pm 3 courts

Friday 3.30pm - 4.15pm 3 courts

4.30pm - 5.15pm 3 courts

5.30pm - 6.15pm 3 courts

6.30pm - 7.15pm 3 courts

Sunday 10.00am - 10.45am 3 courts

11.00am - 11.45am 3 courts

12.00pm - 12.45pm 3 courts

1.00pm - 1.45pm 3 courts

Medway Park current opening times are:  Monday - Friday 7am - 8pm

Weekends 8am - 3pm

Members wishing to book will have to e mail me by 9pm on Saturday prior to week commencement on Monday.  This is the only way to book. When e mailing me to book it is mandatory that your membership number, full name and telephone number also be included in the e mail so booking details can be passed to Medway Park and records can be kept for track and trace purposes should there be an outbreak at Medway Park.  There are 3 courts available at all the above mentioned times in 45 minute increments with 15 minutes allowed at the end of each slot to allow for cleaning of courts and to limit exposure to players crossing paths while entering and exiting courts.  I will try my best to accommodate all requests but please bear in mind there may well be multiple requests for the same slot which will result in someone not getting their desired time.  Its a learning curve for us all but I will endeavour to be as fair as possible.

Paul Johnstone has been kind enough to allow our members who are also premier members of Medway Park to play squash on the premise that certain policies remain intact, those being:

1) Players adhere to England Squash guidelines

2) Players clean the door handles pre and post game with towels and sanitiser provided

3) Only actual Premier members are playing

4) Players bring their photo membership cards to be inspected upon entering the centre

5) That management have a list of all bookings with Name, membership number and         telephone number for the following weeks bookings

We are fortunate that Paul Johnstone has allowed our club to utilise the squash courts, it is in our own interests as a club that we appreciate the token by Paul and do not take liberties, as this could well result in the closure of Squash again at Medway Park.

All changing rooms at Medway Park are closed so players will have to arrive ready to play and shower at home.

Lastly could I please request again that all booking requests be sent to me by 9pm on Saturdays via e mail and that the e mail includes date and time of booking, membership number, full name, phone number and name of opponent if any.  If you are playing with someone else then their details (membership number, name, phone number will also be required).  These details are a legal requirement to enable the centre to be able to track and trace should there be an outbreak.  Confirmations of bookings will be sent via e mail by Sundays.

Bookings are now available to be made for the week commencing the 27th July 2020.

It is our hope in the coming month that we get more information regarding further opening of squash at Medway park and the barracks. We will keep you posted.

We as a committee are trying to do our best to enable our members some kind avenue to play squash.  In a testing new world, it is our hope you understand that this scenario although not ideal, is at least a start to resumption of Squash.

Kind Regards
