A VISIT/DAY OUT TO PARMOOR HOUSE for Members and

Friends

ON SUNDAY 5th JUNE you are invited to Parmoor House, the

wartime Chiltern home of King Zog, Queen Geraldine, Prince Leka

and other family members from 1941-1946. This is an intended

to be an enjoyable day out to which members are invited to bring

along family and friends. The AAA made a similar visit in the

summer of 2014 before the garden restoration.

At about 2.15pm there will be an Illustrated Talk in King

Zog’s study, and Guided Tour of the house and of the

recently restored walled garden by the historian Neil Rees.

Neil is the author of "A Royal Exile- King Zog and Queen

Geraldine of Albania including their wartime exile in the

Thames Valley and Chilterns" and other books.

Please note that Parmoor House is now known as St

Katherine’s. It will be open to us from 12 noon until about

5.30pm. You are asked to bring along your own picnic lunches

which, weather permitting, can be enjoyed in the grounds, and

indoors if it rains.

Neil Rees's Talk and Tour is scheduled for 2.15pm. This is to

allow time for picnic lunch beforehand in the garden or dining

room.

Tea and coffee will be available in the house between 1pm and

2pm, and again at 3.30 following Neil's presentation and tour.

The AAA appreciates the hospitality of the Sue Ryder Foundation.

You are asked to make a voluntary contribution at your visit, for

the refreshments, and in support of their work.

Some copies in Albanian of Neil’s book may be available on sale.

The AAA will have available for sale copies of Nicola Guy's "The

Birth of Albania" at £10.

Information about Parmoor House/St Katherine's can be found on

Google, and for directions please press the directions button on

the website.

PLEASE NOTE-Directions from the website will be

important as the last part of the journey is along country

lanes and you look for "St Katherine's" - the destination.

The address is

St Katherine's (Parmoor), Frieth, Henley-on- Thames, RG9

6NN. (Telephone-01494881037)

It is hoped that members will make their own

arrangements by car, or by train to High Wycombe and

onwards by taxi for £16 -£18, or by talking to other

members with cars. Some people may be willing to offer a

space in their cars. So please email to

angloalbanian@gmail.com if you can offer a lift, or would

like a lift for this event. This however cannot be

guaranteed, and in general most will please make their

own arrangements.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes
