This event is in the past.
You are invited to attend our Annual General Meeting which will be held at the Embassy of Albania (33 St George's Drive, London SW1V 4DG), at 6.30pm on Wednesday 23 March. It will be followed by a short talk by John Hodgson entitled "History in Albanian Words" and a drinks/refreshments reception.
The outline plan for the evening is as follows:
6.30pm - AGM
7.45pm - Short Talk by John Hodgson on "History in Albanian Words"
8.30pm or earlier - Drinks/refreshments reception.
The AGM will include brief reports from the Board. It will provide an opportunity for members to put forward their views and make suggestions to the Board. This year there will be no elections as none of the Board members' terms are coming up for renewal.
In "History in Albanian Words" John Hodgson, a member of the AAA, will talk about the Albanian language and how it relates to other languages, and how it has developed in the course of the country's history. His talk does not presume any audience knowledge of Albanian. John is a leading translator/ interpreter who has taught at the universities of Prishtina and Tirana. He has worked at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at the Hague, and has translated several books by Ismail Kadare. His latest translation of Kadare's "A Girl in Exile" will be published on 25th March.
We hope that you can attend and look forward to seeing you.
You will be invited to make a voluntary contribution to the AAA. If necessary you will be encouraged to renew your membership.
