25 November: Dita e Flamurit celebration & screening of Tana
Wednesday, 25th November 2015 at 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Location:Embassy of Albania, 33, St George's Drive, London SW1V 4DG
This event is in the past.
We are having to change our plans for 25 November. Auron Tare is unfortunately unable to be in London on the 25th, as he has been called to attend a governmental meeting in Istanbul.
We have decided therefore to alter our plan for the 25th., and we will now be screening the Albanian film "Tana", at the Albanian Embassy, starting at 6.30 for 7pm. After the screening of the film, we will be celebrating Dita e Flamurit (Flag Day) with a drinks reception.
We are hoping to reschedule Auron Tare's talk on Albania's marine archaeology for a later date, and will inform you as soon as this is done.
"Tana" is an important film in the history of the Albanian cinema. It was made in 1958, one of the first feature films to be made in the "Shqiperia e Re" film studio. It is a steamy love story with an Albanian village setting, where political correctness ensures that we are witnessing a "love game towards progress". It is said that the film contains the first screen kiss to be shown in an Albanian feature film! The film has English subtitles.
We look forward to seeing you on the 25th.
