Freewheeling cycle club was founded in 2010 by a small group of passionate individuals who shared a love for cycling and wanted to promote cycling in the community. The vision was simple: to provide free cycling for all, whatever your age or experience and no matter what type of bike you ride! The ethos has not changed and we are still run by volunteers and are annual subscription is still less that the price of a pint.
Our ethos
☛friendly, inclusive and very sociable
☛everyone is welcome no matter what type of bike they ride
☛rides are non competitive, no one gets left behind
☛all riders stop and help each other with mechanical problems
☛we are always happy to stop and wait, and encourage beginners
☛ride leaders are always friendly, and put the safety and comfort of others before their own cycling goals
☛the club is run at a barebones minimum to keep costs as low as possible
☛we are not a racing club, and encourage people wanting to race to join Didcot or Zappis
☛to offer variety ranging from 4 mile rides to over 100 miles, road and MTB
The committee
We are friendly and approachable and hold the clubs best interests in our sights. If you have an issue you want to raise let us know - or even better still come along to a committee meeting (usually first Monday of every other month).
