AIAP - Secularism and Iran - Dr. Esmail Nooriala
After three decades of experiencing the Islamic rule, and through experiencing the horrible results of adopting an ideological political system, it seems that the Iranian nation has come to realize the merits of a secular state more than any other nations in the world. In particular, the religious people have seen the centrifugal force amongst the people, especially the young generation, that is created by a sate based on religion. The Iranian history and literature render many good witnesses to this experience. By referring to such sources, this lecture would endeavor to show that the inclination towards having a secular state is not alien to Iranian political thinking.
