TAPING VERSUS K-TAPING
Please see below for a brief explanation of the difference between the 2 techniques just in case you're not sure which you'd prefer to learn. Due to the difference in the techniques, you could certainly learn and use both and we will be happy to provide a discount if you book both courses.
Zinc Oxide/traditional strapping is generally applied for the purpose of mechanical support/off load and for protection of joints and soft tissues. Traditional tape is generally rigid and not waterproof.
Kinesiology tape can be applied in order to restore range of movement in soft tissues, assist muscle function, improve lymphatic flow, reduce pain and to correct the misalignment of joints/tissues. Kinesiology tape is elastic and waterproof.
2 DAY SPORTS MASSAGE COURSE
Full course programme can be downloaded Here.
A great opportunity for physiotherapists, sports therapists and Massage Therapists to review the basics of Swedish massage and to learn the basics of Remedial and Sports massage. Whether you work with athletes and participants, on events, at clinics, in sports clubs or you just wish to add to your skill base - this is a fast and comprehensive way to get a solid grounding in massage skills. The course demonstrates how massage encourages flexibility, aids the recovery process and keeps athletes supple and healthy. You will review effleurage, frictions, petrissage and tapotement before learning myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques, soft tissue release and trigger-pointing. This is similar to our one-day course but allows more time for practical sessions and includes more techniques - well worth it if you plan a career in sports. Please note that this is a practical skills course; you must already have sound knowledge of anatomy & physiology. If you are unsure whether your skill level is enough, please contact us. The course is written and run in conjunction with Scottish Massage Schools.
Please note that this course does not qualify you to work independently as a sports massage therapist but you will be able to use all the techniques in your own work as physios and sports therapists. You will also qualify onto the Scottish Massage Schools Remedial/Sports Massage course without having to complete the normal 8 month pre-requisite Swedish Massage Course, (thereby saving you £600 and an extra 6 weekends of training).

This new course launched in 2011 with outstanding feedback... "Thanks for organising such a valuable and interesting physio expedition course. The prospect of being the physiotherapist working on an expedition is daunting. However, this course gave me a good grounding in the knowledge, understanding and skills to make me realise I could consider undertaking such a responsibility".
