Posted by Member 1161c23, Monday, 30th November 2015 @ 4:32pm

  • This survey of the views of local GPs undertaken by Protect Our NHS BANES makes very interesting reading.

92% of all the GPs who responded said they were concerned about the ability of their practice to deliver a comprehensive service including out of hour services on the basis of current resources

96% of the GPs said that the government's planned funding of the NHS over the the next 5 years is not adequate to deliver the government's plans for nationwide 7 day healthcare

98% of GPs said their patients had experienced delayed hospital discharges due to difficulties organising social care in the community

91% of the GPs had a range of concerns about the increasing role of private healthcare companies in providing NHS clinical care

94% of respondents had serious concerns about the future of the NHS as a publicly resourced service free for all at the point of delivery

Many GPs spoke of the difficulty of recruiting and retaining doctors and other clinical staff.
